(2) Immediate relatives shall not be selected as supervising teachers. (3) Candidates who have taken their qualifying examination from outside the University should apply for recognition (individual recognition) of the degree in the prescribed form remitting the prescribed fee and furnish the details. (4) Candidates who have not registered as a matriculate of this University should apply for registration as a matriculate in the prescribed form remitting the prescribed fee and furnish the details. Rematriculation is necessary in the case of Candidates who have migrated to other Universities earlier. (5) Candidates seeking registration for the Ph.D. Degree under the faculty of Arts, Social Science, Oriental Studies, Fine Arts and Science must be master degree holders under any faculty. Those seeking registration under the faculty of Education, Law, Medicine, Dentistry and Engineering should posses the Masters Degree obtained from the faculty concerned. Candidates who are not holding Masters Degree in Education or M.Phil. in Education will have to pass a qualifying examination prescribed in that behalf for getting registration under the faculty of Education. (6) Candidates seeking registration for the Ph.D. Degree in Commerce under the faculty of Commerce should hold the Degree of M.Com./ M.B.A. / M.B.M. Those seeking registration For the Ph.D.Degree in Management studies under the faculty of Commerce must be Masters Degree holders in Business Administration / Management studies / Commerce / Arts / Science / Engineering / Technology or a Bachelor Degree holder in any subject who has obtained an additional qualification or a Diploma in Industrial or Business Management recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education or whose name has been entered as a member in the Register maintained either by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or Cost and work Accounts of India or Cost and work Accounts of India or both or who is a member of similar institutions abroad. (7) Candidates for the Degree of M.Sc. (Engineering) must be graduates in Engineering. (8) Only Candiates who have secured not less than 55% marks in the qualifying examination will be considered eligible to apply for full-time registration. A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the case of teachers working in affiliated colleges who have at least 10 years teaching experience at a college or University. Only candidates who have qualified in the Entrance Test conducted by this University or National Eligibility Test conducted by the UGC / CSIR or GATE after acquiring Masters Degree or who posses M.Phil degree by research and thesis in addition to a Masters Degree or its equivalent with not less than 55% marks will be considered eligible to apply for registration for Ph.D research. Bachelors Degree holders in Engineering with not less than 55% marks and who have qualified in the GATE or Entrance Test conducted by this University are eligible to apply for M.Sc. (Engg.) by research course. College / university teachers with 7 years teaching experience are exempted from the purview of the Entrance Test. Candidates with DM / M.ch Degree are also exempted from appearing for Ph.D. Entrance test. Candidates who have qualified in the Kerala State Level Eligibility Test are also exempted from appearing for Ph.D Entrance Test. (9) Registration fee shall be Rs.200/-in the case of all faculties. (10) 10% of the seats in the various University Departments are reserved for S.C / S.T. applicants for Ph.D research. Those who have secured not less than 45% marks in Science subjects and 40% marks in arts and Commerce subjects are eligible to apply. (11) Supervising teachers who give consent to supervise the research work of the candidates shall furnish information relating to them in the following format. (a) Name and address (b) No. and date of the U.O. granting recognition as a Research Guide and the subject under which recognition in granted. (c) No. of candidates registered for Ph. D. / M.Sc. (Engineering) degree so far (d) No. of research degrees produced so far (e) Name of candidates being guided / co-guided at present indicating the number and date of the relevant University order (f) Place (g) Signature with date (12) Details of the exact number of vacancies available under each department / guide can be had from the Head of Departments / Supervising teachers concerned. (13) Application in the prescribed form for registration as research students shall be accompanied by the following: (i) A written consent from the proposed supervising teacher agreeing to supervise and guide the research work of the candidate. (ii) A certificate from the Head of the institution / Department where the candidate proposes to do research work to the effect that necessary facilities will be provided to him for the research work. (iii) A synopsis of the proposed research work. (iv) A "no objection certificate" from the employer, if any (v) Proforma to be filled in by the supervising teacher (vi) Attested true copies of the mark lists and Degree / Provisional Certificate in respect of qualifying examination passed by the candidate (vii) Copies of published research work, if any (viii) University cash receipt or Demand Draft for the prescribed registration fee drawn in favour of the Finance Officer University of Kerala, payable at Thiruvananthapuram (ix) 'Eligibility Certificate ' in the case of those candidates who have taken their qualifying degree from outside the Universities of Kerala (14) Candidates if employed and applying for full-time registration shall furnish an undertaking to the effect that he/ she will take leave without allowances for a period of three years or obtain deputation to do full-time research and the same shall be attached with the application for registration. (15) Waiting lists prepared for registration during a particular session will in no case be kept in reserve for the next session. They may apply for registration afresh, if they so desire. (16) Candidate who desire to do their research work at the University Departments should send their applications to the Head of the Department concerned. Those who desire to do their work in recognized Research Institutions and Departments in affiliated colleges should send their applications direct to the Registrar. The last date for receipt of applications in University Departments / University Office will be as prescribed in the notification. No application received after the last date will be considered. (17) Registration on the basis of merit and according to the availability of vacancies will be granted subject to the University Statutes and rules. The decision of the Syndicate will be final.
